Welcome to our wonderful country located/city close school where children become resourceful learners and creative achievers.

Our attractive, well-resourced country school is located beside Te Awa Whanganui in the beautiful village of Upokongaro close to the historic town of Whanganui. We are the destination of the "Waimarie" paddle steamer, so take a ride and picnic in our beautiful grounds and consider enrolling your child.

Children from year 1 to 8 learn and experience success through personalised learning programmes and individual attention.

Continuous learning, teaching and facilities development are priorities for the Upokongaro team of Board of Trustees, teaching and support staff.

Exciting programmes foster high achievement, initiative, exploration, thinking and creativity . Children experience rich opportunities to inquire and make meaningful connections within, between and beyond themselves.

Learning is developed and shared in small classes featuring the integrated use of technologies across the curriculum and daily programmes. Te Ao Marama, our new double spaced digital classroom provides a vibrant, modern learning centre for all students. Our spacious outdoor environment invites and supports active play and a variety of outdoor education challenges.

Just a short scenic drive along the banks of the Whanganui River, we attract families from town and country who seek for their children to experience the best of all worlds.

Transport to and from the school is available via our school van-door to door from town and a country bus collects our rurally living children.
